RESUMEN:
Los múltiples avances científicos acontecidos a lo largo del
siglo pasado en sociología, etnología, lingüística y antropo-
logía, permite a la enfermería especializada afianzar cientí-
ficamente su paradigma de cuidado holístico gracias a las
perspectivas etic/emic procedentes de la investigación et-
nográfica. La pertinencia de este enfoque metodológico se
puede evidenciar en el abordaje de las personas en proce-
so de recuperación donde la perspectiva emic que describe
el punto de vista de los sujetos observados se interrelacio-
na con la perspectiva etic que describe el punto de vista del
especialista en Salud mental que observa.

ABSTRACT
The multiple scientific advances that have occurred throu-
ghout the last century in sociology, ethnology, linguistics
and anthropology, allow specialized nursing to scientifica-
lly consolidate its holistic care paradigm thanks to the etic/
emic perspectives from ethnographic research. The rele-
vance of this methodological approach can be evidenced
in the approach to people in the process of recovery where
the emic perspective that describes the point of view of the
observed subjects is interrelated with the etic perspective
that describes the point of view of the mental health spe-
cialist that observes.
